Remote Keyless Entry Programming for '05 - '08 GXP

Needless to say the key fob for remote keyless entry whether 4 or 5 button with remote start button must be programmed using a GM Tech II scan tool so a visit to the GM dealer will be necessary. Cost will vary.

The following is the procedure used:

Up to 4 transmitters may be programmed. The order of programming is important. First transmitter to be programmed is #1, and the second as transmitter #2.

Invalidate All

The following will erase all keyless entry transmitters from memory and ensure the DIC presents accurate key fob status since key fob battery status is monitored and displayed on the DIC when low.

1) Install the GM Tech II scan tool at the ALDL port under the steering column.
2) Turn ignition to ON with engine not running.
3) At scan tool select Body.
4) Select Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR).
5) Then select Module Setup.
6) Select Program Key Fobs.
7) Select Invalidate All Fobs.
8) Follow scan tool on-screen instructions.


Transmitter Slot Programming

1) Install GM Tech II scan tool to ALDL port.
2) Turn ignition to ON with engine not running.
3) At scan tool, select Body.
4) Select Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR).
5) Select Module Setup.
6) Select Program Key Fobs.
7) Select the key fob to be programmed.
8) Follow scan tool on-screen instructions.
9) Remove scan tool from ALDL port.
10) Exit vehicle. Test key fob(s) operation consisting of LOCK, UNLOCK, PANIC (Horn sounds), TRUNK RELEASE and REMOTE START if equipped.
