Exclamation Accessories Not Getting Power!!!!!

Ok first off i had a check engine light come on and we ran the codes and it seemed to be a tranny issue well we took it to the dealership cause this was a new tranny and was still under warrenty and they said that it was the ignition switch wiring so we purchased one and replaced it ourselves and now the truck cranks fine with no engine light but now the air, radio, wipers, and windows aren't getting power. but the weird thing is that the air comes on when you remote start but as soon as you put on the brake to cancel the remote start it kills the air. PLLZZZ need help Driving me CRAZY 1997 Silverado 2WD

Re: Accessories Not Getting Power!!!!!

welcome to the forum. when posting for help what is needed is the exact vehicle you are asking about .

with a meter check the wiring at the switch for loss of power when the switch is turned on. recheck the wiring ...look for wires not connected..check for the proper movement of the switch lever and position..

Re: Accessories Not Getting Power!!!!!

We've been through all the wires time and time again and also tested them with the truck running.

Don't forget about fuseable links, fuses, and relays.

Re: Accessories Not Getting Power!!!!!

A child dropped a penny in my cigarette lighter socket in the rear of my Towncar, it took a while, but I found it.

See what circuits are protected by the fuse, isolate some circuits, and check for shorts.

Use www.alldatacom for wiring + circuits.

Re: Accessories Not Getting Power!!!!!

A real common problem with these trucks is a bad ignition switch which makes sense in your case. You state everything seems fine with the RS but the moment you shut that down with the brake or if you just start it with the key your accessories shut down correct? Get under the dash and test the orange and also the brown acc. wires to see if they indeed have power when the key is on.

Re: Accessories Not Getting Power!!!!!

btw, just because the switch is new doesn't mean it's any good especially if it's from Autozone. I've found that out the hard way.
