97 VW Jetta Horn HOnks intermittently
There is a short in the 97 VW Jetta's electrical system causing the horn to honk intermittently. Particularly when turns are made and turn signals and wipers are used. This leads me to believe that there is some loose wiring on the steering column somewhere. However I dont know where to start looking as there are so many wires and I have no diagrams. How expensive would it be to have someone diagnose and fix this problem do you think? 1-4 hours tops?
I dont want to get taken to the cleaners. I have replace the 10amp fuse (#13) but this did not fix the problem. thanks. |

Re: 97 VW Jetta Horn HOnks intermittently
Seriously IT's pretty comical...
Just had time to snoop around in depth under the steering column this weekend. It wasn't loose wiring at all! There was a tiny screw that had come loose from the lower section of the steering column and was making contact with the underside base plate of the actual steering wheel causing a short to trigger the horn. Glad I found that before some dealership would have recommended a new assembly or some bullshit. Cool forums though. Glad to see people helping each other out! |
