95 tc trans trouble
Have a 95 town car signature series. To get it into drive you have to shift it to 2 on the column, after that you can shift it back to overdrive and it will stay in gear. To get it into reverse you have to shift it into park and neutral engages when it says its in reverse. Getting into park you have to slam the shifter into park hard or it will just go into reverse. I looked at the linkage and it looks fine and intact. Anyone have any ideas

Re: 95 tc trans trouble
Don't listen to that idiot. I would look at the transmission Shifter Module for starters. Make sure it is in good shape by having it tested and or readjusted. Mine needed readjusting once and gave me a similar problem. Also Ford had a problem with these going out taking the Torque Converts with them. If you by a new or remaned tranny these days, you have to buy the UPDATED module otherwise they void the warranty. I would start there and see what happens. If I may ask, how does it shift when in gear?

Re: 95 tc trans trouble
Thank you for the info. That's going to be the first thing I do. When its in gear it shifts smoothly and you can feel the converter lock up and it not rough at all. One time a while ago the tranny shifted pretty hard but that was a few months ago and hasn't happened since. This past friday is when this issue started. ill let u know after i get it checked. thanks again

Re: 95 tc trans trouble
I gave my problem engine 95TC away, because of age & mileage!
I'am a little disappointed, because young man still didn't replace the engine. Wow, could of got $4500 cash for clunker! |
