toyato in trouble please advise
I have a 2002 toyota tacoma 4 Cyl
it has 150,000 on it and has been a great truck I have just had a valve job timing chain /belt replaeced and it runs ok but in somecases going up a slight grade it has no acceleration when i have my foot on accelerator it will be going 30 when my foot is on the floor i removed my foot and give it accelerator again and it will go up to 70 it also loose acelrating when i am just driving along could it be a fuel filter prom it does need a new cata litic converter do you have any idea what the problems is please email me sq6@verizon.net i am also looking for a mechanic in my area to replace the catalitic converter i am in 92223 but am willing to travel 25 miles out of my area thanks in advance for your help |

Why are you questioning what is wrong when you say that you are aware that the catalytic converter needs to be replaced? Fix the known problems then ask questions.
If the damaged converter media is restricting the exhaust flow.......it will restrict the exhaust flow. This means that the engine cannot freely rev up on demand and you will go slow. Releasing the gas pedal will sometimes allow the loose media to move away from the converter outlet which will result in free flowing exhaust which means the engine can rev up and go faster. Any chain store muffler shop can weld in a universal converter for a couple of hundred bucks at the most. |
