Post Mahindra Xylo in India

Mahindra & Mahindra, the utility market leader has recently launched its multi-purpose vehicle Xylo. The Xylo is the first in a series of new products that the company has lined up till 2010.

The other two launches that the carmaker plans by yearend are a mass-market light-cargo product like the Tata Ace. In 2010, the company plans to roll out its global SUV product. The company plans to organize its export thrust with the launches.

While the Xylo is positioned between the Bolero and Scorpio SUVs, the global SUV product will be positioned above the Scorpio, though it will be more mass market than the Ford Endeavour or Honda CRV price category.

It is to be mentioned here that all the three products have been designed to target both the domestic market as well as exports. Xylo, for instance, comes with a 2.5-litre CRDe (common rail diesel engine) like Scorpio, but it will also, in due course of time, get a petrol engine for its export avatar.

Mahindra Cars India is cranking out Xylo from its Nashik plant. Mahindra cars price range between Rs. 600,000 to Rs. 800,000 The maximum capacity for the MPV is 20,000-25,000 units a year while the Scorpio’s top capacity is 40,000 units a year.

Re: Mahindra Xylo in India

Hi,

Thanks for sharing useful information mahindra xylo automobile.

Mahindra's main market is India but the automaker does export some of its vehicles to western Europe, Russia, South Africa, and Malaysia. The company now has its eye on the lucrative US market, with plans to ship its cutting edge high end Mahindra vehicles to America. Mahindra's latest vehicle xylo is on par with premium brands for quality and luxury.

Re: Mahindra Xylo in India

Sorry to bring this back to life but I'd like to add something.

Mahindra already has a US Market for their Tractors and Tractor parts and supplies. I'm more worried about EPA BSing them about their diesel engines. If Nissan, Toyota, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, etc... can't sell diesel (except "clean diesel") vehicles that they normally would in Europe and elsewhere, then Mahindra will certainly have to try to fight the EPA.

But anyone with a Mahindra product already will more than likely want to get one of their little trucks in the line up. Even more so anyone that wants a small utility vehicle that's bigger than the Rhino or the other ATV side-by-sides but still compact, theses are the vehicles.
