84 318 sputters and dies
I have a 84 318 that has been sitting for a couple of years. the old gas was taken out and i put fresh gas in it before trying to start it.. but . when you try to start the car it turns over fine and it seems like it wants to start. as soon as it "starts" it sputters and dies. id say it sputters for about 2-3 sec then dies. if i hit the gas when it starts to try to maybe rev it a little to help clear it out sometimes it dies immediately and sometimes it will rev up then die. ..and it keeps doing this.. ive replaced plugs wires distributor cap and rotor. looked for cracked vacume hoses everything seems to be ok .. any help in trying to diagnose this would be appreciated thanks

Re: 84 318 sputters and dies
Check the Bosch part numbers on the injectors. You may be able to get the same injector that fits a VW at 1/2 the price. When I worked BMW parts at a dealership, I found many parts that fit a VW worked just fine on a BMW. As long as the Bosch part numbers match up, you're good to go. Did this trick for a friend with an older 318 that needed new injectors.
