Transmission losing gears
Hi. My 1993 3.1 Euro has 230,000 miles on it. About 5000 miles ago, it would need to warm up on cold mornings for about a minute before it would pull in either forward or reverse. Then it would seem to be ok. Later on, it seemed to start out in second. That was fine at the time. A few weeks ago while on a trip on the interstate at 70 mph it would drop out of overdrive into 3rd and back into od again until it seemed to stay in 3rd.
It's a great car and the engine seems to be in super condition. Any thoughts on my options? Thanks |

Re: Transmission losing gears
Getting close to internal trans repairs, I would say.

Re: Transmission losing gears
Thanks Maxwedge. I was hoping you would respond and afraid you'd give a reply like that. With the 12,000 mile or 12 month guarantee the repair shops give around here, I was wishing for a solenoid type solution.
She is old and 2nd and 3rd seem so healthy.... Thanks again. |

Re: Transmission losing gears
yes i agree might have to rebuild. i think your tranny module is inside tranny and not out side so looks like tear down time.
