Worked on the 98 today CEL gone for now
Hello
I just wanted to share with you all that I pulled the upper manifold off of my 98. I was getting missfire on cyl #1, O2 sensor wasn't responding as it should. When I checked the EGR ports they all were open except for the cylinder closest to the master cylinder which was compleatly pluged which I cleaned out. I replaced the O2 sensor with a used one from the bone yard. I got it really cheap and thought it couldn't hurt to give it a try. The sensor that I took out was green.....I believe that I have a lower intake gasket replacement in my near furture. I tried to get the gaskets from a local Ford dealer but they weren't in stock. I was quoted 60.00 for the compleat set. I would like to know what other have paid for intake gaskets from the FD.?? The van runs better now. I only put on about 5 miles so far. I will be putting on 30+ tonight. I'm hoping that my millage will increase to 22-25 mpg instead of the 18-20 that I've been getting. Dan

Re: Worked on the 98 today CEL gone for now
It been a few years since i open my intake up.. I wonder if i should to see whats going on.. When I did my replacement I broke one of my isolator bolts.. I used atv seal around the area.. never had the light to come back on even with one isolator bolt not holding things down.. Thats why i am a little shy to open mine up unless I get a problem.. But am curious to see how my ports are now since I run synthetic oil.

Re: Worked on the 98 today CEL gone for now
A follow up......
The van is running very well! I have to watch my speed. No CEL, only code 52 on the airbag (power failure at some point (just a nuisance code)), got the horn working (one of the horns was shorted blowing the fuse). My wife filled it up today (2.82/gal) and we'll see what mileage it will get. Regards Dan
