99' jimmy a/c trouble
okay, so i have done everything i have read except tear apart my dashboard. I see arms moving, feel vaccum where it needs to be doors opening and closing...yet I still get hot air thru my vents.pressure is between 45-50 lbs. I have noticed my compressor stays on all the time except when i turn off the unit. it used to cycle quickly until i added freon to the system. please is there anymore steps till it is dash time or dealer time. i really can't afford too much.
thanks

Re: a/c still don't

Auto matic or manual ac/heater controls.

45-50 low side will only give you 50-55 vent tempt.

We need the low and high side pressure reading at idle and at 2k with compressor running.

Does the vent tempt change from warm to hot or just stay warm or hot.

Adding R-134a with a one can one side gauge wallmart ac killer kitis not a very good idea.
Was it pure r-134a or a blend or any oil and stop leak can?

Proper recharging is pumping out the system and vacuum it down to remove moisture and add right oil and the proper charge of r-134a.
And checking the low and high side reaings with a ac recharging double gauge set.

After a proper recharge.
With compressor jumped and running post back you low and high side readings at idle and at 2K.

With a ac recharging gauge set.
Like one of these.

Low side should be close to 30 lbs.
If it is dropping under 25 lbs the switch will cycle or shut off compressor.

As to vent and temt controls auto or manual controls?

Automat ac controls are electric and vacuum and need to be tested with a body/havc capable scanner and cheched for codes.
Post back any codes.
Also a recalibrate may help.
Key off.
Remove RDO/Batt fuse for a minute.
Put them back in and turn key on.
You should hear and feel the actuator tempt control changecycle threw full hot and cold positions.

Manual controls have to have full engine vacuum to ac/heater controls to work right.

Post back what you find and what you have and you low and high side pressure readings.
