Need New Engine

Need to know what engine I can replace my 96 3.1, with 206,000 miles on it. Want to stay with 6cyc.I know 3.1 but what else, and what year do they have to be. Thanks in advance

The book says up to 1997 and and it is wrong.I have put in 1995 3100s in 1996s and 1996 3100s in 1995s with no problems at all.1998 and up will fit too and I have done it this way.You will have do some changes with EGR tube,EGR valve and the upper plenuim,sometimes the lower intake and exhaust manifolds too.
