Talking tC vs audi 1.8T

this is definitely going down as my favorite, least expected kill to date. so im driving home late yesterday evening, no traffic, perfect weather so i decided to wander around a little before going home. i ran into an older audi a4 sedan silver 1 passenger. i was keeping it at a steady 40 for once the driver looked over honked twice and took off. ah so it will be a game of cat and mouse. i got on it to catch up but he had let off the gas and was back to a slow cruise. i catch up and look over. passenger yells on three. we keep it at 40 and i floor it. wtf...im in front and slowly pulling. at 60 his front bumper is at my side mirror. by 85 i shut down and his bumper is roughly at the rear of my door. he slams on the breaks and makes a U. maybe i made him miss his turn hehe =)

Re: tC vs audi 1.8T

You do know that the Audi A4 weighs in pretty hefty right? And if the douche hasn't taken care of the car it probably won't run at its peak. Should've been a close race so I guess that makes you the better driver and/or you have a better car. So that's a for you, dude. Nice kill.

Yeah they are cows, an average 1/4 time of 16.7 seconds, and thats if its the 170hp engines.

Now if this was a GTI or Jetta 1.8t i wouldve called BS. But good race!

It's true though, thats one of the reasons i frown on the TC since it replaced the celica. The TC is a very nice car on its own and the interior is very nice too, but i like the celica alot more since it was lighter and had the option to get the 180hp engine.

ya the tC is portly too, considering its 2900lb curb weight. hell even w/ the s/c you are running low 14s hi 15s.the equivalent of a stock celica gts. after all it is a Camry motor, but its not all bad news, plenty of torque and mid range available...but after 5000RPM it runs out of air

Yeah but what can you do? for the price its a very nice car. One thing I hate though is that since its a big seller the dealers always try to add more money to the car pushing it upwards of 20k which is what turned me away from the car. Cause lets face it when the car hits past 20k you might as well get something better than the TC like a redline, Supercharged(now to be turbocharged) Cobalt SS, the new Volvo C30, and so on.

Oh yeah they are very sexy, and the interior is very nice too. Car and driver tested them out against the MS3, the Caliber SRT-4, and the WRX. It placed 3rd overall but what was interesting about the Volvo was that from a roll of 5-60 and a roll from 30-50mph the volvo beat out the MS3 but then from 50-70 the MS3 beat out the volvo.

They said that the because of the lack of a limited slip the Volvo posted a slower 1/4 time and suffered from too much wheelspin

Same platform, different everything else. We also have wheel spin at 30...punch it without traction control, you aint going nowhere. I like 'em...but I'd beat one.
