Question about painting black trim to match body color
Can anyone tell me (or direct me to a post that tells me) how to remove the door handles, the mirrors, and the black side trim of a 5th gen. Civic? I'm going to paint them to match the rest of the car, and I'd prefer to remove them rather than painting them while they're still on the car.
Thanks. |

in order for you to take of your molding and mirriors you first must remove you inner door panal and take the clips off the molding. as for your mirrior you must remove the inner plastic peice behind the mirrior and un bolt it..
my .02 is if you take off your molding and not plug all the holes in your door your ride will look like shit. if you don't have a hayes or chiltons manual yet buy 1 welcome to af

no shep, he doesnt wanna shave his moldings, just paint them. yeah, do what shep said, to take em off. and the manuals too.
I would look in the AF/honda/acura/ interior and exterior sections to see about painting those pieces. They are plastic, and you may want to look into a paint catylist to get the car paint to stick to the plastic. there may be some threads, or people, on the interior and exterior forums that may be able to helpo you out. post pics when you're done...I wanna see how it looks. Im not to good with the welding, and if painting the trim looks good, it may be an option.

Hey, thanks for your advice, and thanks for your welcome to the forums. I will post pics when I'm done, but it's rainy and cold here in WA, so it might take a while.
