jack stand recommendations
I'm looking to purchase a couple of jackstands for use with my eclipse. So far, the ones I've come across have been too tall to fit under the car. I had previously been using a set of self made ramps for years but always used the included jack to change brakes, rotate tires, etc.
Any recs would be appreciated. If you could provide a web link that would be great too. Thanks in advance. 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX

Re: jack stand recommendations
You use the jack to jack the car up then lower it onto the stand. I've just never seen one too tall...

Re: jack stand recommendations
If the jackstands are too tall, jack the car up farther.
If the jack is too tall, stick a 2x4 in front of each wheel and drive up onto them, that should give you clearance to jack it up. |

Re: jack stand recommendations
I know what he is talkin about. The jack I use doesn't go up enough with out some wood under it. But they seriously should make them smaller. They are adjustable so its not that big of a deal.

Re: jack stand recommendations
You mean that you cant get the jackstand under it while the jack is maxed? That means you are using the wrong jack/jackstand points or you need a new jack.

Re: jack stand recommendations
2-ton NASCAR-style jacks do the trick. 2 Pumps and the car is up there. Gotta love those. Block of wood FTW. Sturdy wood.

Re: jack stand recommendations
Just get some of those cheapo Red Torino jack and jack stand kits. Those jack stands are tiny.

Re: jack stand recommendations
thanks for the responses.
Just to clarify, I wanted a set of jackstands that would allow me to raise the car in one step without having to first use the included jack to lift the car enough in order to place a jackstand under it.

Re: jack stand recommendations
I don't even think they make those. It wouln't be a jackstand if you didn't have to jack it up first, and what you're looking for would be very, very expensive.
