Re: H22?
Anything is possible with time and money, but you'll have a hell of a time cramming a 2.2L plus 2 turbos into the tiny crx engine bay. TT is hard enough to try and cram into a prelude or accord engine bay, I can only imagine the tricks you'd have to pull to get it into the rex

Re: H22?
Yes an H22 swap can be done in a 1G CRX but there will be tons of fabrication involved since ther are no kits that will allow you to simply bolt in the motor. The one H22 swap that I've seen didn't leave much room for anything else under the hood.
Hasport makes a B-series swap kit for the '84-'87 Civic/CRX models, this is probably the best route to go if you want to make power and have aftermarket support. www.hasport.com Why twin turbos? |

Re: H22?
1G CRX = 1st generation CRX, years 1984-1987.
3G Civic = 3rd generation Civic, 1984-1987. The H22 is a much heavier motor than your EW/D15. This added weight at the front of the car make your car handle horribly. There is no swap kit for this motor so you will be fabricating motor mounts, shift linkage and CV axles. Then you will need to convert the car over to OBD1 which means rewiring everything from the ECU to the motor. If you have a DX or HF model you will need a complete OBD1 donor harness. If you have an SI you can wire the car to run an electronic advance distributor (like '88+ Hondas) then plug in an OBD1 conversion harness, or just splice in an OBD1 donor harness to begin with. OBD means on board diagnostics, and is followed by a 0, 1 or 2 (OBD3 coming soon), the number designates the type of OBD. You will want to run OBD1 if you are planning to do any ECU modifications since it is the easiest system to modify and there are several aftermarket programs available. |

Re: H22?
deadhymms, if I were you, I'd forget about the H22 and swap for a b series. B16 or B18a is good if you want to boost. Or you could try to find a B17 or B18c5 if you're lucky and want to keep it na. You won't have as much base hp, but you can get a motor mount kit for the B series and you'll have more room for turbo etc with the smaller engine. Plus B is a better platform for boost than H series. H22 is more the route to go for guys like me that drive heavy ass accords

Re: H22?
Damn an H in a 1st gen rex? Here i am thinking how hard it is to drop an H into a 2 gen rex. In your case, i'd definitely consider a B at most, maybe a ZC or a D?

Re: H22?
maybe it's just the angle the pic was taken, but it looks like they moved the firewall in a little bit. But still very sick, I bet that thing flies.

Re: H22?
Looks like an unmodified firewall to me. However it looks like they had to relocate the radiator.
