Crank Position replacement?
Am going to replace the crank position sensor today. My haynes manual covers 1985 - 2003 cars and says that an alignment tool is necessary to install the crank sensor. The part from advance auto comes with a bracket, is this the alignment tool or do I need something else? Please help.

Re: Crank Position replacement?
Mark the position of the old one before you remove it. Then reinstall the new one as close to the old one as possible. You shouldn't have any issues if you do it this way. Most people never take time to align them as the book states and have no issues.

Re: Crank Position replacement?
Was able to partially put the harmonic balancer on, look from underneath and adjust so it wasn't touching. The sensor installation sheet said to make sure I have 20 thousenths all around, so a used a feeler gauge to do that. Put balancer on, tried to start several times and took balancer back off to make sure no problems. No problems or apparent scuffs. My car still doesn't run, no spark, but sensor is on right now, I think. Am going to check wiring then ignition module. Right track? Any other ideas? I have posted a couple times here with other details.

Re: Crank Position replacement?
Next step would be the cam position sensor, ignition module, coils and finally computer. Make sure all connections are tight and that the computer has power.
