xtrail accident
We have owned an xtrail from Nissan for only 10 months. Last week, my husband had the most scary experience of his life! He was making a left turn when he lost control of the car, he couldn't stop the car no matter how much pressure he applied to the brake pedal. The car veered sharply to the left and did not stop, he hit a concrete wall, the airbag didn't deploy and the car went on into someone's backyard, hit a garage and landed between two houses. In the end, the airbag deployed a little bit and went in again. Miraculously no one got hurt and I have a feeling that Nissan will deny all this if we were to contact them. My husband has a clean driving record of 30 years and he has two or three witness that came forward to tell police what they witnessed. Has anyone out there had a similar accident, it is scary that xtrails would have those problems and yet people are driving them everywhere

Re: xtrail accident
Hi Linda and all,
Mew member here on your forum, but been running the Australian X-Trail Forum for a couple of years now. I'm very sorry to hear about the accident, but what caught my attention was the fact that the air-bag did NOT deploy correctly. I have raised the exact same concern to Nissan Australia, after I have seen many wrecked xtrails here and none of which had the air-bag deployed too. Read my report and the response I received from Nissan Australia about the air-bag HERE Reading your accident report has only made my concerns increase about the correct deployment of our airbags and the function of airbag sensors we have in the xtrail. Australia will soon release the upgraded version of the xtrail (they will call it Series III) and in this model they will have the front and side airbags as standard (similar to what Europe now gets) I sure do hope that they have not decided to mask the imperfection of the front airbag functionality by introducing and relying on side airbags only! Anyway, I suggest that you make an official compliant about this with BOTH, your insurance company and nissan, as this matter is VERY serious. Good luck to you and please drop-by to our Australian Forum to say "hi" or ask anything else you want answered. |
