RX-7 muffler for a non-rotary?

Is there anything that would preclude installing a 1st gen. (one with a single inlet like say, an '85 OEM replacement muffler) on a non-rotary car? Is there anything of particular interest or noteworthy about their design or materials?

I have heard they are/were built to withstand higher temperatures than a non-rotary exhaust.

I like the twin-tip outs, and I assume that since the RX-7 has always been a performance vehicle it should flow quite well, but I also like the idea of a stock muffler based on the assumption that the noise level will be minimal. (BTW, Meineke sells them for about $140.00 USD installed in the states)

Any input would be much appreciated,

TIA, Gary S.
