92 Cutlass 3.4 Alternator Bolt Removal

How in the world do you remove the rear bolt? If you remove just the bracket bolt from the motor will the alternator come out? Thanx

Oh, you're gonna love this one!

Take a small 10 mm open end/box wrench and put it on the bolt with the open end toward the firewall. Then get a long 3/8" extension, put the square end into the open end of the wrench carefully. Get a ratchet and attach it to the extension and turn it clockwise to break the bolt loose. Then you can maneuver your hand in there somehow to unscrew it. I did two of them and left that damn bolt off when I put the new ones on. Enough torque from the other two hold it in there.

Good luck, it's definitely a sixpack minimum job.

Thumbs up Re: 92 Cutlass 3.4 Alternator Bolt Removal

Hey Buddy, The mount bolt finally came off and I think a 12 pack is in the plans!!! You say not to put the bracket back on?? Good idea if it doesn't cause any problems. If the bracket does need to go on another 12'er be needed. Thanx, Rusty
