93 Z34... What would you do?

Hey everyone. Im new and currently looking at an auto 93 Z34 for a winter car and have some questions... I've been lurking the past few days reading up on problem/issues with the 3.4L. I found the car with 138K miles for $500. Problem is, the car doesnt run right now. Its had recent brakes, tires, alternator, and a battery done. But last week, the owner left his driveway and drove it up the street and it stalled out on him and they havent been able to get it running again. I checked out the car today and the car turns over and sounds like it wants to kick on, but doesnt.

Now do you guys think I should offer the guy a few hundred and get the car and fix it up? Do you think it could be something as simple as a sensor from causing it not to start? The belt was done at 60k. So it is time for a replacement on that too. I'm hoping for some of the experts opinions on this and what I should do. I've always loved these cars, especially the Chevy growl that comes out of it.

I know the Lumina's can take a beating. This past may I was in a demolition derby with a 93 4 door Euro and I was in the top 5 out of 70 cars. Whenever the car stopped running, it started right back up. My demise ended up being me stuck in dirt on bare rims in the front. So Im hoping this Z34 works out for me. Thanks for the help!

Re: 93 Z34... What would you do?

truthfully? Couldnt be much worse than a mitsubishi eclipse, and I wouldnt doubt if its faster than that too. Sorry for my sarcasm, I dont like foreign cars. I would offer him a few hundered dollars, maybe even 500. Heck, you might be able to auction just the rims off on ebay for that. I could be a number of things, fuel pump, ignition module, ecm, I dont know. I myself, if I had the money, I'd go for it. Is the body decent? Smoker/non-smoker? Good interior? Just read up on www.60degreev6.com about changing the timing belt on that car. Because I'm assuming it has the 3.4 DOHC? The timing can be a pain to adjust on these I hear, but its not an interference motor (I dont think) so your valves are probably fine if he broke the timing belt or just skipped a tooth. Otherwise, you can turn the key on and off a few times, and check for fuel pressure at the rail, or just listen for the pump, and you can check for spark easily enough. I myself would buy it. Good project for you. Good luck with it
