2000 blazer overheating prob

I'm having a problem with my blazer overheating after i restart the car when it's been running for a while. It started a couple of days ago after i was driving for about an hour, i cut the car off got gas restarted it and the temp guage was reading between 210 and 260. It slowly went back down to 210, then i cut it off again and started it back up and it did the same thing. I cheked thhe coolent it was fine plus i just had it flushed in december. I was thinking mabe the water pump or the thermostat.
I would appreciate it if someone can give me some suggestions.

Go and check your rad when it is dead cold in the morning and see if it is topped right up to the top and the overflow resevoir is up to 3/4 of the tank.

Replace the rad cap with something that is NOT AC Delco.

Well after work i checked the coolent level it was below the add line (it was sitting for about 8 hours) and i also cheked it when i got home and it was just a litle above the add line. It seems like it's lower than what it should be since i got it flushed in dec.

I am quite sure this is normal, as when the engine is off, the coolent is not circulating. Sometimes when I start mine up the same thing happens, but within 5 seconds it goes right back to normal.

Did you take the rad cap off and inspect the coolant level in the rad?

I believe that is one of the things I told you to check when the engine was dead cold.

Sorry it took me so long to post a reply. I checked the Rad when it was dead cold it was right up to the top. The coolent level in the resivoir is slowly getting lower. I'm hoping this might just be a problem with running the a/c alot.
I need to find the cause of it overheating because I do alot of miles on the hiway (about 3k a month) and i don't want to break down it middle of nowhere. Reply if ya have any input! thanx

Replaced the rad cap yet?

Well replaced the rad cap a couple of weeks ago, it's still overheating.
I'm begining to think it's the thermostat, anyone have any suggestions on what kind to buy?

I noticed that My 2000 is starting to do the same....I did a flush and fill about 2 months ago, and changed the rad cap at that time.

Did you make sre the rad is completely filled up?

Take a look in the rad neck when the engine is completely cold.

We will move on from there.

I'm not sure of this but could there be a connection with my heat not working and the engine overheating??

Assuming that everything is connected properly and you have indeed replaced your AC Delco cap with a new non-AC Delco cap, and you have a radiator full of the same color of antifreeze coolant, either Orange or Green but not mixed. Then I would suggest you have a REVERSE POWER FLUSH done on the Rad and the heater core. It sounds like you've got a plugged up system.

Sounds like your cooling system needs a complete triple reverase flush and a rad cap change.
