painting chevy rally wheels?
This Nova I'm doing for my buddy has Rally wheels (like off a C2 Corvette...) but the wheels themselves are body colour, with chrome trim rings and chrome center caps. I have a set of Rally wheels that are of course completely chrome, but how do I paint that small strip around the center cap the body colour? The body is painted with Dupli-colour GM Metallica Green. I think I'm going to have to brush paint it, I don't see how I can mask it...

Just brush paint it.
I have done several Revell-Monogram kits with those wheels, (assuming that is where you got the wheels from), the molding is crisp enough to give a good edge to paint up to on both sides. Sorry for the dark photo, it's the best shot of the wheels I had on hand. The rims parts on this one are brush painted gray... - Mark ![]() |

Re: painting chevy rally wheels?
Thanks, glad to see it works. What do you suggest for painting duplicolour from a spray can with a brush? Is the consistency good enough that I can just spray it on a piece of paper, lap it up with the brush and apply it?

I spray the paint into the lid of the can, if it is too thin, wait a minute or two and some of the solvent will evaporate and make it thicker.
If it takes two caots, don't worry, but do let it dry at least over night if not 24 hours to keep from pulling up the previous coat... - Mark |
