96 Turns on but when gas pedal is press it wont accelrate
I have a 96 Lumina when I turn on the car it turns fine but when I give it gas the car starts to like turn off it self when I am in the street and I have the pedal to the floor it does not accelrate as fast it should it goes like 20 miles and it takes about 7to ten blocks so the car can go form 20miles to 40 or 50 miles

Start by replacing the fuel filter, see what happens.

If you have access to a vacuum gauge, verify the the intake path is clear of resrictions or bad air filter, connect to manifold vacuum and warm engine to operating temp. Open throttle and prop open if possible to acheive a steady 2500-3000 engine speed. Watch the reading, it should stay steady once stabilized. If it begins to drop steadily the longer it runs, the exhaust (usually the cat) is restricted.
