Legend for $4800 need advice
I'm looking at a 91 L legend with 135K miles for $4800. I have not test drove it yet just looked at it from the outside. Do any of you have any suggestions for me to look for when i go back to test drive it?

Im here.
Legends "usually" run well into the hundred thoulsand mile range. I would say that that price is not unreasonable. Make sure the seller has maintenance records for major repairs especially the Timing belt which should have been done at 90000 miles. Usually the Water pump is replaced at the same time so look for that too. Legends notoriosly shift hard from 1st to 2nd gear but it shouldnt be too hard of a shift, just more than the other gears. I would have a mechanic check it out if you are interested and check brakes and cooling system especially. Hope that helps and you used enough icons in that last post. |

Common problems to look for:
Rad leaking near the top. If you stand infront of the car, it will be to the right of the rad cap. Caliper sieze. 1st to 2nd gear a little rough. Head gasket failure - over heating, Rear trans. mount may need to be replaced (a "thud" can be heard when driving) Make sure the A/C works. A compressor cost +$500 That's all I can think of for now. |

Legends of that year take alot of beating. something that usually goes wrong in thos cars are the A/C mainly the blower motor

Heres something to consider, I bought my 1990 legend L sedan about a 2 years ago. It had 154,000 miles on it and I paid a little under 3500 dollars. The car was perfect inside and out when I bought it and ran extremely well for a car with such high miles. It now has 171,000 miles and in that stretch of time and miles and me beating the piss out of the car(I drive it way to hard for its age) despite the hard driving though, all I have had to fix was both CV joints, one upper control arm, and get a transmisson fluid flush and refill, which cost me about 500 dollars total for all three. And all of those were about 3 weeks ago. these cars have a few things that seem to go wrong with them but they are nothing that people shouldnt expect from buying a car with high miles that is 10+ years old.
That sounds like a very good deal and I would pick that up if I were you, given there is nothing seriously wrong with it. Make sure you check all of those things out though, that list given previously was right on. Good luck, let us know what you end up doing. |

I am thinking of buying a 91 with 193,000 on it. Looks very clean though yesterday a lady clipped the front bumper off in the dealership parking lot with her taurus. Now dealer wants $500. Insurance company is going to cut him a check. Should I jump on it? I am really eager to get it anyway and fix it up.

wow
I think 193000 is too much, even for Legend. Unless you'll get it for really cheap - under 1000$. 1000$ is what i would give for it at max. Unless the body is in good condition and you planning on swapping enging and putting in a new tranny.

First off I have a 89 lengend which is the same as the 90, I got my car for $500 at 180K, it still runs perfect. They are a good buy, just don't buy it for racing. If you want a car for racing just ask me and I will try and help find you something. As long as you don't mind getting it from LAs Vegas. Some of the cars though do have salvage titles but yet are still running and nice looking so PM me if you want to know more. Or IM me if I am online.

I am saying I know a guy that is able to get cars for really cheap some of them have salvage titles on them. It would just be just be hard to sell later because of this. I also was telling the kid to try and get another type of car if he wanted to race with it.
