Rally racing?
What rc car would be best to set up for WRC type rally racing? We have a dirt track behind my work and I would like to have something that would suffice to be off-road, drive hard, and beat up, but then be able to be taken onto the street and driven nicely. Should I get a TT-01 or is there something better?

If you want to go ahead with a TT-01 get a XB one so you can race it out the box.
Gravel hound looks good it is designed for dirt but can race on-road no problem. |

Re: Rally racing?
So, the XB is already built and all I have to do is put in the batteries? Also, can I get a different body seperatly, or do I have to get a whole new kit for one?

Re: Rally racing?
Ya i agree, the TT-01 is almos bullet proof. If you get the XB all you really need is a set of good rally tires. Id say get the RTR one then u dont have to worry about anything but the tires, but id recommend gettin a new charger too cuz the one that comes with it will eventually ruin ur battery. And yes u can get new bodies seprately, and if your wondering if other company bodies fit on tamiya, yes they all will as long as they are 190MM. Do you have an RC or is this your first one?

This will be my true first one if I do get it, since most people on here don't seem to count x-mods as rc cars. So, if your going to tell me what to get and stuff, can you explain a little about it, like RTR, I have no clue what that means. It could be either the tires, or a whole different type of rc car.

Re: Rally racing?
ye np this is where i got started
RTR - Ready to run Most of the XB cars come RTR and they are a good value no doubt. They come with almost everything u need but not the best of everything. It will do when you are starting out. Like something like this: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXJSW0&P=7 Now if you go down, you can see the section where it tells you what else you need to run it. Battery: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXERB5&P=ML Best battery for the money, other 3000 mah cost around 40+ dollars charger: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXUF43&P=ML believe me u wanna invest in a good charger, if not anything else, or else the crappy chargers will absolutely kill your batteries and tires, you might wanna get sumthing like this, http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXGG35&P=7 i dont know how good the stock TT-01 tires are, they mught hold up As you go on, later down the road u might wana get a new suspension system, carbon fibre parts, w/e. Depends on what you wanna do. Hope this helps

Re: Rally racing?
Okay thanks, that'll run about 230 us dollars before shipping and tax. Not that bad for a starter I guess. And, I'm looking for either the Escudo Pikes Peak body or a Subaru WRX body, can I get these from tower hobbies?

Re: Rally racing?
My opinion, dont buy a tt01. I have a tl01,tt01,tb02,tbev01. the most durable is the tl01 and the tbev01 and a friend has a tb01 which is also indestructable off the shelf. the arms on the tb02 are weak compared to other tamiya kits except the tt01. the tt01 on the other hand needs an aluminum centershaft, metal dogbones and outdrives, oil dampers, ball bearings. to spend that much i'd rather get an hpi rally rs4 you'll end up with a really good car. i mainly use my tt-01 for silver can motors coz it's lighter than most stock tamiya kits. i dread using it for mild jumps or offroad play. ditto on the tb02 for rally. i wonder if my tbevo could be used for rally. i'll try it out.

Re: Rally racing?
the best car for rally is the HPI rally. Fully sealed drivetrain, gear diffs, complete with the ride height and the tires you need. You can pick one up on ebay.
