signs that my clutch is going?
My jetta is my first manual transmission car. 96 2.0. I got her 2 years ago with 87000 miles on her. Now she has 93000. I dont know if or when the clutch was changed. I have always known how to drive a Manual trans car (18 years now).
Is it me or the car? If I drive normally (No hard accelleration) there is no problem. If I drive agressivelly, she will pull great in first, but continues to rev high in second and third like the engine is racing. What are signs to look for that the clutch is on its way out? There are no problems shifting. |

Yeah, your clutch is slipping. THe teeth are grinded down. I let a chick drive mine and she rode the clutch like crazy... burning smell... all hell broke loose... the usual. Either be gentle on it, or replace.

When you shift and let off the clutch it doesnt grab right away and the revs slowls go down. SOmetimes the car can jerk a bit when starting from a stop.
