Hello. I could use some community help

I believe in the KA and want to bring the motor to about 240 crank hp all engine (NA). I know the ka-t is faster and less expensive, but I think there is something special when you can take a truck motor a kick a type-R's butt, and that realy isn't that hard to do with this engine. I know all about the Bolt-on's and such, but I defeinently could use some suggestions when it comes to internals and engine mechanics. Also, any dyno charts, links to parts/info and the such would be much appreciated. If any of you have done this type of thing your imput would be helpful and welcome.

The first thing you should know is that you're going a very expensive route. It's going to take alot of time and custom work if you're serious about making a monster KA. I'd suggest high compression pistons, titanium valvetrain, lots of headwork, 91-94 KA exhaust cams for your cam setup, upgraded fuel and spark, etc. Go to ka24de.com to find alot of stuff for your purpose. Good luck.

i dont think it would be at all doable with out retarded amout of work.
You buy a crappy motor teg that has near no N/A potenial and you call honda crap way to go!
Just slap on a turbo with the KA and you'll be zipping along

lol, while we are talking crap about our old cars, lemme join in

i used to have a 1995 Honda Civic DX coupe. oh man was it slow. 102 hp 92 lbs of torque. a real monster *sarcasm* but now i have my s14 240sx, i just can't help revving on all the ricers. it feels good to have that monkey (the civic) off my back.

the integra LS motor is great for turbo charging. if you want 240 at the crank a turbo b18b can do that for you. Plus you have all the suspension goodies off the type r you can use, and lsd

Ok, let me put it this way:

I do not want to go turbo. I know it is cheaper and al together easier to go with the turbo. My goal is not to run 12's in the 1/4m, I just want a good all engine ka24de that puts out 220-260 crank. Any help with links, dyno charts for parts and suggestions would be great. Flaming on the engine doesn't help this topic.

Who says calling the ka24 a truck engine is a flame? ... I'd take it as a freaking compliment!

Re: Hello. I could use some community help

You could use a ignition system to advance the timing if your ka is in good shape. The stock internals can take the pounding of +40-50hp easy. Open your intake and your exhaust and you will be suprised, the stock is very restrictive. On the sr and the ka pulleys and radiator= HP, the stock radiator just sucks. In general Nissan respond better to simple bolt-ons. If you want expesive high compresion motor buy a Honda. Two years ago one of the primedia mags did ka bolt-ons if you want dyno charts on a project that small.

Excuse me, hi I'm new, may I??

Umm, yeah the KA motor can be a very capable NA motor with the right modifications (just like just about any other motor on the planet).

And it's a "truck" motor because it's the motor that comes in the nissan hardbody pickup. All the cars that run a KA over here, would have an SR20(DET) in Japan.

I'll start from the top and work my way down:

Cams, springs, and retainers will allow you to rev into the double digits on your tach.

A port and polish job, and a 3 or 5 angle valve job. I recommend you have this done by a shop with a flow bench, and experience with the KA's flow characteristics/porting in general.

Balancing the rotating assembly, along with shot-peening, stress-relieving, and cryo-treating. Throw in a knife-edged crank to go all out.

Flywheel, flywheel, flywheel, one of the best mods ever for the KA!! I love my Fidanza flywheel!!

Then of course do the intake thing, if you want to be sick go to a custom intake manifold and/or individual throttle bodies.

You would also need an ignition system/AFC/etc. by this time as well.

Good header, and a nice exhaust.

*NOTE*
This is for a race set up (obviously), if your address has a CA in it forget about getting this past the cops or CARB. Also, this involves alot of custom work, and time. Be ready to come to the table with $5-10K for quality work. And be ready to do a lot of research (if you're smart and don't want to put your money in the garbage disposal) you should know about the shop(s) you're going to do this work with.

Enjoy, post pics when it's done

Id Say some Mega duration cams, I/H/E, Race Ported Head, Stand Alone and high compression Pistons Should be enough to get you in to the 180WHP ball Park ( I wonder what a KA would sound like wound up to 10K?)

ITBs = mmmm good....
