supercharger + nitrous

I have a 5.3L 2000 Silverado. I have added hypertech programming and power stat, along with a whipple supercharger. I am thinking of adding a 2800 to 3000 stall converter and MSD ignition. My question is I want to add a nitros setup to my current setup; is this over kill and/or to much to expect my 5.3L to handle? Also any other sugested upgrades to my setup would be helpful?

My goal is to run in bracket drag racing @ 500+ hp. Thanks

You should be fine running NOS as long as you do a little engine work first. You will want to replace your valves and pistions with stronger parts.

I have heard it is possible to run a 50-75 shot and a s/c(5-7lbs) on a stock bottom end, but i would never even dare to try it. Your bottom end will go out before you hit 500h/p. I would suggest you build a soild bottom end before you slap some nitrous on or up the boost. Forged pistons, rods, and crank would be a place to start. also look into getting a nice set of heads. A set of heads would make a HUGE difference on your truck.

Check out www.FullSizeChevy.com if you want to get more indepth on this.

Re: supercharger + nitrous

Just a question about the Hypertech Power Programmer with the Supercharger. When you were using the programmer did you press Yes for the "Install hypertech tuning"? Basically the thing that advances the timing. I hope you didn't.
