How do you fit 17x9 rims on??

My buddy bought these 17x9 rims with 40 series tires on them in the rear but they wont tuck under the fender, I've seen them same rims on other mr2's, do you think he's gonna have to modify the fender, or do you think that he needs 30 series tires on them?? The front dont tuck in either, they are not as wide as the rear, but they have 40 series also and are 17's..... what other options does he have?? Any suggestions would help, thanx.

What kind of offset are you running? I have 17X9s on my rear with 235/40-17 tires. I hae a 42 offset on the rims and they fit perfect. I didnt even have to roll the fenders. If you are running an offset closer to 35 or wider tires, then you might need to roll the fenders.

No, its how the wheels are built. Just try and tuck the fenders. If that doesnt work you mught have to sell and get new ones
