1990 5.0 TBI wants to die after engine warms up
After my engine gets warmed up the Rpms bottom out and the engine dies. I've replaced my TPS sensor. I thought it could be that cause I can just put a tiny bit of pressure on my fuel pedal and it will idle just fine. It does have a bit of a miss, and I've noticed that when it rains it has a hard time starting. I have put new wires recently and it's still doing it, could it be that my distributor cap has a crack?

Last complete tuneup? You did wires....how are the plugs? Cap and Rotor? Check coil output with a spark tester?
I would clean the IAC and passageway....also clean the throttle plate and bore.....might even try adjusting the throttle plate a hair open more, while adjusting the TPS sensor(usually is play in the mounting).....i.e. whatever the TPS reading is before adjusting the stop on the throttle plate, after you open the plate a little, adjust the TPS back to the original reading..... |

Use some starting fluid and slightly enrich the mixture sometimes the two injectors need cleaned. If you have an adapter Napa sells a can of injector cleaner you can run through after pulling relay for fuel pump.

It could be many things, but if adding a little throttle will keep it running it might be worthwhile to follow Tech II's advice and clean the TB and IAC.

I fixed the issue. I replaced the cap and rotor button, still had problems, it was the throttle stop plate had a bevel in it from the throttle preset screw. I covered the hole with a thin peice of aluminum and it idles just right.
