2002 cavalier wipers stuck up position

wipers will not park when shut off.
alldata says....Windshield wiper motor park operation is controlled by the wiper motor module using an input from the park switch within the wiper motor assembly. When the windshield wiper/washer switch is turned to the OFF position while the wiper motor is somewhere in mid-cycle, the wiper motor module will continue to operate the wiper motor until the wipers reach the park position.
motor?module?wiper transmission?any ideas?thanks.

The crank arm that attaches the motor to the transmission, is it solid, or is it a rotating two piece set up?

Re: 2002 cavalier wipers stuck up position

the shaft that comes out of the transmission the motor sits on top....is solid then there is a short extension metal piece that attaches to a crank arm that goes to both wipers.the earlier ones you could bend a metal stop tab.You need 2 special tools to replace the wiper gear box. J 39232 Wiper Transmission Separator
J 39529 Wiper Transmission Installer.
or is it the motor that has the park switch.why do they have to make things so complex to fix.its my wifes neices car.not worth buying the 2 tools to fix.appreciate any input.thanks tech 2 for any ideas.
