2005 Cavalier/Sunfire Clutch problems

I have a 2005 Sunfire, which is the sister to the Cavalier. 2.2L Ecotec with the 5 speed manual transmission.

I stupidly crunched the gearbox while shifting gears on the highway a couple of days ago and noticed a subsuqent change in pedal travel in order to get the gears to change.

Forward about 5 days to tonight when I drove the car it was extremely diffucult to change the gears but it could be done.

I am trying to figure out if this is a cylinder problem with the master and slave cylinder, or an entire clutch problem ?

Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
