95 GM tranny not shifting right!!

Hello all, my 95 GM with 220,000 miles hesitates to shift from 1st to 2nd. All other gears shift fine except on the highway it has been shifting outta overdrive. "Trans medic" and changing out the Dexron IV have helped, but it eventually does it again. Does this sound like a "tranny rebuild" candidate? Or do ya think a mech could adjust something in it? Hanks for any help!

Re: 95 GM tranny not shifting right!!

There is a possibility the slow 1-2 shift is a servo bypassing fluid. If the OD is kicking off, the direct drive clutch pack is probably shot and needs rebuilt. Sorry.

Thanks WTO for the reply. I put another "batch" of fresh Mercon V and new filter in there, and it's shifting fine again with an occasional slip outta overdrive!!

Get a bottle of trans medic and put it in the transmission. It will help for a while while you save money for the repair.
