2003 ford Windstar front windows wont work

Both of my front windows quit working on the same time. You can hear a clicking noise by your feet on drivers side and the interior lights dim when you push the up/down button on either side of the car. Can anyone help????

Re: 2003 ford Windstar front windows wont work

If the lights dim when you push the buttons, then the fuses should still be good.
Try the buttons on the passenger side door to see if they work.
One thing that can happen is that the buttons become worn.....corroded, etc and cause the problem.
I only have access to the electrical diagrams for my '96, so things could be different for your 2003.
There should be a "one touch down" relay for the driver's side window.
On the older windstars, there is a separate 30amp fuse for EACH front window (1 for driver's side, another one for passenger side).
On my diagrams, the power window switch on the driver's side is called "Master Window Control Switch"
The "General Electronics Module" (GEM) is involved on the '96, I know that they changed these around by the time 2003 came around.
Sorry that I cannot be of more help.

Has the vehicle been sitting unused for a while?
It is possible that both window "regulators" are sticking and need some lubrication.

Re: 2003 ford Windstar front windows wont work

I've uploaded the electrical diagram for you.

The separate fuse for each window that wiswind is talking about is no longer used. If the lights dim and you hear a clicking noise that would rule out bad switches and the FEM.

I'm leaning more towards a regulator problem, I would remove the door panels and measure voltage accross the conenctor terminals.

Oscar.
