d16 build or b16 swap ?????
as my recent post I have a 89 crx si project that I am working on but cant seem to find the right info on any forum. I have the d16a6 in the car now, wanting to boost the car, but dont know weither to build the engine I have or just swap. Been told building will cost you just as much as a swap will just dont know which way to go. I have a swap in mind for 1700, comes with b16, tranny, ecu, harness. which is not a bad deal considering parts by themselves would exceed that. So my ? for anyone that has done it, or is in the process of doing it, BUILD OR SWAP??

I would go with the b16 swap you get more power and more potential. It will cost less also for you to achieve power with a b16.

Re: d16 build or b16 swap ?????
All depends on what your future plans are, personally I would swap it... because after you do it, youll want more and it will be easier/cheaper to then mod a "naked" b16 then build up your D to be all motor, and then say "gee its not enough" and then have to tear it all down and rebuild for boost.

Re: d16 build or b16 swap ?????
I'd go with the B16 all day, it drops in fine, plenty of power, and if you want to go faster the aftermarket is endless for b series. It's well worth the time and effort put in, but is your CRX dpfi or mpfi??? if it is dpfi, then the wiring will be the hardest part, but I have done it a few times and once you get the locations of the wires the hard part is over. All in all, go B series

Re: d16 build or b16 swap ?????
Do a b16 swap. They arent too expensive and you will be happy you did. Have you considered doing maybe ls-t? b20 vtec? There are endless posibilities with the b series motors.

Re: d16 build or b16 swap ?????
I would go with D16 build because even if B16A is more powerful but they come with just 30 days warranty and JDM engines don't come with complete wiring.

Swap it! 1700 for all that is a great deal. You may need a few odds and ends to complete the swap, but it's totally worth it.
