98 blazer showing code p0740
my 98 blazer (130k)recently started showing code p0740 tcc circuit malfunction
the truck runs fine (except for the water pump i just blew ) this is a tranny solenoid code. but my tranny seems to be shifting ok. what should i be looking for? is the solenoid easy and cheap enough to replace myself? trying to make up my mind if its time to start thinking of trading this blazer in on something with less miles or to fix it up and keep on truckin thanks in advance for any info you guys can give |

Re: 98 blazer showing code p0740
The TCC solenoid locks up the torque converter. Starting out from a stand still, under normal to light acceleration, you should feel the transmission shift 4 times. Check connections at the large connector going into the transmission case and at the solenoid before replacing the solenoid. The transmission oil pan must be removed to replace the solenoid.

130k on a blazer is nothing. Keep it.
