Unknown parts found on truck
Hey there guys, so basically I had to look under my truck for something unrelated and I found this weird looking plate with a big connector on it that continues to run to the front of the truck. I don’t know if this is aftermarket or standard but I just need to know what it’s called if you guys can help.
The last two pictures are a black box with wires that I found under the passenger side dash, thanks in advance! |

Re: Unknown parts found on truck
Sorry about that, the truck is 2005 f-150 4.6 V8, supercab, XLT Triton, styleside. I found the device from the first picture underneath the truck about halfway under, mounted to a piece of metal. I noticed it because I had to cut wires that were going to an unwanted 7 pin trailer connection. I clipped the wires going to the 7 pin plug and noticed an unconnected 4 pole that was attached to a large diameter tube like wire that was attached to the 4 pole and goes all the way to the front of the truck connecting to different things. The plate thing in the first picture is one of them. Thanks again

Re: Unknown parts found on truck
yeah i have heard that car dealers mostly used car dealers install GPS trackers that they can remotely shut down your vehicle if you miss a payment that way they know exactly where the vehicle is for the towing company or repo guy
also when you buy a 2nd hand vehicle make sure it comes with 2 keys....usually the finance company keeps a key for easy repo late at night..i had a '14 mustang gt that came with 1 key the guy who traded it in said he lost a key so i had the dealership recut all the locks and rekey and program the car before i took possession cost them 1500 dollars.

Re: Unknown parts found on truck
It's the Fuel Pump Driver Module - FPDM. Your engine will not run without it! These are used on returnless systems to modulate fuel pressure by varying the voltage to the fuel pump.

Re: Unknown parts found on truck
not all of these vehicles are return-less when i went to order a fuel pump from parts dealer they had 2 different ones one for vapor return and one without i had to phone dealership and ask what one i had which i have with vapor return so not all issues are cut and dry some take a little digging but most have FPDM including the F-Series trucks
