Post Hyundai i10 2009 clutch change

I recently purchased a 2009 Hyundai I10 that had 68000 kilometres on it. The clutch pedal and changing into first, second, and reverse were difficult for me. I asked a mechanic about it, and he informed me that the clutch needed to be replaced. When I picked up the car from the mechanic, the gears and clutch pedal were incredibly smooth, so I instructed him to change the clutch. But after a few days, the clutch pedal became more difficult again, first gear was difficult but reverse was smoother. Has the mechanic duped me by not actually changing the clutch, I wondered? Did he reinstall the clutch disc after cleaning and lubricating it, or what?

You don't lubricate a clutch to make engagement smoother. It sounds like you are having hydraulic issue.

It seems slightly annoying to get those kind of problems once you get the clutch done. If the pedal and gear shifting were initially smooth but then reverted to being difficult, there could be a few possibilities:

Incomplete Replacement: Perhaps the mechanic decided not to replace the clutch components the way you wanted or even forgot to do it at all. If the competitors only cleaned or lubricated the old components, that surely must have accounted for it.

Hydraulic System Issues: In some instances, it may be attributed to just the hydraulic system that are for instance the master or the slave cylinder. Any type of leakage, or presence of air, in the system will cause an adverse clutch performance.

Adjustment Issues: Depending on your car model, the clutch cable or hydraulic system might be require some adjustments after the new installation. A poorly adjusted clutch results in engagement problems.

Worn Components: There may be other wear and tear problem in other parts associated with the clutch such as the clutch master cy renters or the clutch slave cylinder.
In order to get to the bottom of this one might possibly suggest or go back to the mechanic and review the problem. Request for extensive examination so as to confirm that the clutch was substituted and in addition look for other probable causes of the difficulties.
