coil on plug ignition system....
Has anyone here tried to update the ignition system from "wasted spark" ignition (3 coil) pack to a coil-on-plug system on the 3.8 L Ford v6? ... any Ford V?
I've got an itch! |

Re: coil on plug ignition system....
I have not tried, but it seems very do able.
The biggest issues are going to be mechanical and thermal, especially with the Windstar plugs sitting right above the exhaust manifold. My coil-on-plug car is a four cylinder and the coils sit on the top of the valve cover. I think the electrical wiring should be fairly straight forward, but the devils usually in the details when it comes to that. |
