Transmissiion oil leaking between the engine and transmission windstar 2000
I noticed leakage of transmission oil leaking between the engine and the transmission of my windstar 2000 280 K miles. No driving issue, no flashing OD light. I am keeping the level. What is the suggestion. Azharj

Could be front pump seal, or front pump failure. Either would require removal of the transmission.

Re: Transmissiion oil leaking between the engine and transmission
I had a VERY slight leak there on my '96. Not enough to leave drips on the ground, but I could see the slight wetness there. If it gets bad enough, as mentioned, you will need to separate the transmission and engine to get at the seal.
I would NOT add any "leak stop" to the transmission fluid. If you have to have this done.....I would consider having that seal replaced on the engine as well.

Re: Transmissiion oil leaking between the engine and transmission
Are you sure it's transmission fluid and not engine oil? The rear main oil seal on the engine often develops that slight seeping. I use high mileage oil which has some seal conditioners in it and it never leaks enough to drip on the ground. I just wipe off the oil pan during each oil change. I always get a full 5 quarts when I drain the pan, too, so it must be a very tiny amount that just makes a little mess. If that describes your symptom, I'd just ignore it.
