Axle recall of the axle recall
Looked around a bit but I did not see any other post on this activity. My 2003 Winnie got a letter last Friday explaining the axle recall had to be inspected. If improperly installed, they would replace axle no charge. If not, they offered an owner partial pay axle replacement for $300. Mine showed a 'perforation' but they did not offer the entire freebie. I did however jump on the $300 deal. Supposed to be ready to pick up Friday.
Given the long history of issues, I hope some others are getting satisfaction with the issue as well. Seems like an about face by Ford. |

Re: Axle recall of the axle recall
I assume that by "perforation", that means they found a hole in the axle - and didn't replace it. Wow!
There's been some discussion on this, under the sticky topic "Recall" above: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...=967804&page=4

Re: Axle recall of the axle recall
Thanks Phil-l, I thought the recall link was the correct one but the first post discussed cruise control etc. , so I thought is was another recall issue. My confused brain. I am hoping to see the perforation but I'm not sure they'll let me. I'm guessing it is in an area NOT protected by the original recall. (Separate part from the bracketed areas) I have spent a lot of time under that van, and to be honest, it looks like crap. Lots of corrosion. That's why I am happy to replace as much as possible for as little cost as possible. Clean motor, no oil loss, no codes (fixed the isolator bolt issue myself 6 years ago). Love the van, just need to keep, the chassis together as long as the motor lasts.
