2003 ZTW, alternator

My alternator burned out on the highway on Tuesday afternoon so I had it towed to a local Firestone for repair. 2 days later they want $987 for fixing that and the positive battery cable. Any reason I shouldn't think that is outrageous?

It sounds outrageous but you didn't get a written estimate before authorizing the work?
