1946 pontaic coupe street rod

we just finished a motor swap into a 46 Pontaic coupe,we installed a 1990 5.7L 350 with a 700 R4 tranny,we got the motor with a computer and wiring harness, the wiring was all set up for the car,we was told, but like any motor swap you run into snags, well this one sure was, some one thought they would change a few wires or they tried to shorten the wires, bottom line, the wiring was worthless, couldn't even read the computer,so knowing how much time and money that had gone into this car,I picked up the computer and the two plugs, sat down in front of my pc. and started looking up wiring diagrams,so wire by wire,I built a harness to match the car and the computer, after 4 or 5 days, and a huge mess in my living room,I took it out to the car and installed it,perfect, ever thing plugged in except for the transmission wiring,we had to add a foot to those wires, but when we went to start the car,the fuel pump purged, then it fired right up,I unplugged the bypass wire, set the timing, plugged the bypass wire back in,couldn't be happier with it,I hope if any one out there is thinking of doing a motor swap, the computer and wiring is very important,if you can't buy what you need then if you take your time and do your home work, you can build a custom wiring harness your self,an save a ton of money, thanks to all the people who answered my questions and thanks to GM's part # 1227747 ECM,
