need trans help! (I'm a mechanic)
OK well I did the headgaskets for my 6th time and replaced the TCC in the side of the trans....took it for a ride and after 2 miles the trans wouldn't shift anymore and i got stuck. checked the fluid and it was a little low so I put in a little more...no luck. went to get it the next day and the fluid was low again...towed hope with my dolly...went to the shop that night and the fluid was low again. So I filled again and no go...so i took off the bottom pan to see if the bolt on the shifter had come off...it had not. But the weird thing is that the fluid in the side pan didn't drain out when I pulled off the bottom pan. put the bottom pan back on and tried to fill the side pan but it was already full!! let it sit overnight and none of it drained to the bottom..what gives??

Re: need trans help! (I'm a mechanic)
I have read that if the 2 sided stud is put in backwards (long end first instead of short end) for the drivers side trans mount it can damage pump shaft. (not saying this happened) but if it did is the trans junk or is it something easily fixed?

How do you fill the side cover seperately on this trans, does it not move, or not shift?, tough to follow what you did here, can we assume before you did the tcc sol. it was ok?

Re: need trans help! (I'm a mechanic)
yes was fine before i did tcc. the side case is the only place to fill this trans (where the dipstick goes) ...i'm thinking that bolt that got put in with the long threads instead of the shorter ones did some damage to the pump...and no it doesn't move at all

Sounds like no oil pick up, if that bolt is jamming the internal pump gears, than damage has occurred, pull it apart and see what's what, no other way.
