95' Convertible - No Start Issue.
Hello all,
Purchased a 95' LeBaron from a friend to clean up and sell. Picked it up, drove it home, and it ran pretty well. Shut it off, went to bed. Next morning, battery was dead. Previous owner thought the alternator was bad because he'd had to jumpstart it to get it going that day. I jumped it, and did the typical "lets check the charging system" thing and disconnected the negative battery cable with engine running. Car revved up, and died. We tried to restart it but there was no spark or injector pulse: We had killed the computer (it was already going bad so this was no big deal). Purchased a computer from a local salvage yard today. Took it to the shop and installed it. Wouldn't start. Checked fuses and found ECM fuse to be blown. Replaced it and it hasn't blown since. Chrysler manual suggests resetting the alarm. We are pretty sure the car isn't equipped with one, but went through the steps repeatedly... no avail. Put noid light set on injector #5, When cranking the light pulses appx 6 times, and goes out. Kicks like it might start when blinking, but (of course) just cranks afterwards. Is there another module that I might have blown up? Some reset procedure I need to do? New TPS, new IAC, new MAP, new temp sender and temp switch, optical sensor in distributor seems to be fine. Car runs fine when gasoline is sprayed into intake, so ignition system is (supposedly) good. Ignition switch, park/neutral switch, and key tumbler are new as well. We have verified, btw: ASD/FP Relay is good, as is the circuit. Fuel pump is functional at all times when engine is cranking. Grounds/Powers to ECM are correct. Any ideas? All input appreciated. Re: 95' Convertible - No Start Issue.
Bill, I've got a 95' Convertible also. Guess what. I was driving home today and the engine just "stoped". No warning, no coughing, just stoped running. Engine cranks now but will not start. Sooooo....
What have you found out about your car? Got it fixed yet? We might have the same problem and I was hoping to benifit from your experience.... |
