Re: Coolant Recovery Tank Replacement

Great Post- When I changed my power steering pump I found it helpful to remove the coolant bottle by removing the speed nuts and bending the bottle with fluid out of the way. Gives you a lot of room to get at the serpentine belt and that side of the engine.

Leave the coolant in the bottle in that case. It's tight and will not leak. Also helps with the radiator bleeding. Raise it up with some bungie cords while the tank is near full, and open the bleed valve on the radiator tank.

I read on an Aurora forum that people have had luck cleaning these with clear lamp oil. The kind of oil that you use in the old lamps that have the wick, and fire flame. I think that's just kerosene, but I would be concerned about long term exposure.

Another great write thanks!

Re: Coolant Recovery Tank Replacement

I had no idea that people were working on restoring their Intrigues to Concours-like quality. -I hope to see your Intrigue at an auto show soon -Maybe Pebble Beach.

I shouldn't talk since I just spent $600 on new Cooper touring tires. But they don't make the BFG Control T80 anymore and with the snow I didn't want to chance an accident. Rust will slowly eat my Intrigue away so a concours restoration is out of the question for me. -I will hope for 10 more years.
