1993 Dodge Caravan stalls when hot outside, air conditioning on:

I have a '92 Grand Caravan. On hot days (>85), engine stalls after driving for about 1/2 hour or so. Hasn't happened when temp is lower. Engine turns over and occasionally fires one cylinder but won't start for anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes.It has happened most often when coasting to a stop or slowing to make a turn. I get the "Check Gauges" light and the guages all drop to their "engine off" position.

Now that I had it happen three times today, I think I can check spark and use starting fluid to rule those out.

I'll also pull the cap in case it's starving for fuel. I had that happen on a vehicle once before.

I was wondering if I had a heat sensitive relay under the hood. Just bought the car and don't know what relays are under there.

Any help would be great.

I am having the same problem with my 1997 Dodge Caravan stalling as I am driving. I have taken it in 3 times and the mechanics are unable to determine what the problem is. Was your problem resolved and how?

Have 1993 Dodge Grand Caravan. Stalls when engine is warm and air is hot (80 +) and humid (its usually humid when it's hot around here). Stalls mostly after idling for 10 min or more. Turning off engine and letting it sit for 15min does the trick for a while until problem repeats after start up.

I UNDID THE GAS CAP and the problem has vanished (seemingly). I think this is an intermediate fix but now I know the problem lies in the fuel (delivery) system. Thanks for the helpful advice.

Might have the answer - Strange but it happened to me ...
When the engine sat idling for a long time my alarm wire on my custom system melted and shorted out causing the anti start feature to activate.

Once short was removed, the car has worked fine since.
