you don't exactly need to get a mugen and spoon just just so that you can raise your redline. you can get a hondata that can do that but is it WISE. the reason mugen and spoon chips are so expensive is because all the fuel maps and crap like that is tuned. i'm not too sure about ECU's so if i'm wrong, someone here will correct me. lots of smart people here. just curious, what car do you have that can handle 2000 extra rpm?

Don't you know, it's 10 hp for every sticker, 50 hp extra for every additional inch of rear spoiler behond stock height.

Yea a Honda could easily handle the extra 2000 rpm. They put a limit on it for the stupid people that don't know any better. Its a safety precaution there to limit premature wear on the engine. But the real truth of the matter is, why would you want to rev that high? Your peak power range was gone past at 5500-7800 so whats the point of going any further? Its time to shift and grab some more power. I wouldn't trust the Mugen or Spoon Chips though, one they are primarily meant for serious race applications and many of their capabilities are pointless on our street cars. Second I don't trust anybody saying their selling a SPoon or Mugen chip for 20-40 bucks. Like seen on Ebay. You have no idea what your getting! You have no idea what the specs are on the chip. I would stick with somebody reputable like Jet Performance, Hondata or AEM. You know what your gonna get. Its mapped to fit your needs.

My VTEC X-over is abou 4500 after the upgrade. was 5500 stock or there abouts.

I've heard you can X-over the VTEC at 3500 rpms, but no less.. That seems dangerously low to me but, but shit runs sweet at 4500...

I still need to get a VAFC though, would be nice...

The premium rpm for the x-over is 5800. Earlier is not better but it does sound cool!!!

Your HP dips at the earlier VTEC crossover. You get more HP at a higher crossover.

yah the reason is that the cam profiles are not set to provide power at that low rpm range. the stock cams on either the b16 or b18c are optimized only for the stock crossover point. changing that crossover is not beneficial to a serious extent. now if you do change your camshafts to lets say a jun cam or something, i can understand raising the crossover point because thats what the cams are optimized for. otherwise a vtec controller and changing the crossover point is unnecessary.

Hey Ricardo!
So that chip off of ebay actually works huh?!?! Sounds like some nice improvements for 20 bucks or what ever!
Does your car still have the same govenor setting or are you able to go all out now? Who did u order your chip?
I have a 93 rs teg but i have a b16a1 so im sitting @ 8200 redline but with the stock cams, gears, valves, and springs I wouldnt push it pass 8000 even with a new chip! I wouldnt recommend going higher then your stock rev limit of 6500 though unless u pop in some new valves and springs though.
And that goes for the guy who was looking at the b18c1 with the turbo too, your redline is @ 8200 like mine and your peak hp rev is @ 7600.
So even with a chip turbo what ever, if you dont upgrade your drivetrain your engine is going to BLOW!

Thumbs up HondaIntegra

whats up hondateg?......thats right, does chips really works!!!!!!BUT the real question is how long will it last??? and whats the real HP gain?? i have to take it to a dyno soon..
I sure the govenor is gone....my 4th gear is a lot longer then stock,,im probadly shifting at about 115mph, at like 7500rpm..and then all of fifth gear..i just got the chip so i didnt get to top it out yet...i need more parts to get there quicker.but thats a little later..i simply ordered the chip from e-bay,,,i typed in 93 acura integra on the main address search
a bunch of listings came up, and i went into 93 teg parts on e-bay...they have a lot of stuff, you just have to search for it. stornger head internals would really help for high reving...they will soon be bought...but my stock rev limit it at 7200 and there is no problem with taking it their....these motors are made to handle the rev limit..just not kill it by bouncing of the rev limiter ,like i hear and see a lot of kids do..but anything past your rev limiter, it's time to get stronger internals.but anyway,,,,I looooooove racing,L,,,WRITE BACK,,,,,,,,BE SAFE !!!!!!

Re: mugen or spoon racing chips???

I have a 92 Civic LX Sedan with the 1.5L D15B7. It has AEM SRI, DC Sports 4-1 1-Piece Header, Omni Power 2.25 In. Test Pipe, and a DNX "FULL" Cat-Back Exhaust. I was kinda considering the Spoon Racing chip made for the 92-95 Civic EX P28 ECU with a 9,100 RPM Redline. I wanna know if I was to order this chip, would it be able to fit on the 92-95 DX/LX ECU without any problems??
