Fan belt comes off
A friend of mine has a 55 Chevy with a big block engine which he runs at the local drag strip. The car went for a long time with no problems but now it throws the fan belt off when he guns the engine, such as doing burnout. Tried new belts, checked alignment on pulleys and still belt flies off. Anybody got any ideas?

Re: Fan belt comes off
if it still has a pulley driven fan ditch it and go with an electric one, they make some good ones for tri-fives.

Re: Fan belt comes off
Clearly, there's still an alignment issue. If the alignment was perfect and none of the components are warped, then the belt wants to stay centered when you add torque to it. There's many different directions that you have to align. Try using a smaller belt and eliminating one pulley at a time.
