Re: nsx engine swap
Man, you dont know what your saying, seriously. It can be done but you dont know how much money it will cost you. A NSX engine will be around 12,000 dollars (estimate), mounting it on a crx making it rear wheel drive. Damn, prepare to spend 20,000 plus dollars on your setup. And you wont be as fast as you could be with 10,000.
Wanna go fast, completely gut a CRX and drop an LS engine there, and then rebuild the internals and turbothe shit out of it. You can do all that for less than 8,000 bucks and be way faster than a CRX NSX engine.

the mr2 3sgte is already more tuner friendly than the nsx's engine and parts are much cheaper while having plenty of capabuility... also makes very little sense imo

there are many different turbos readly available for the 3sgte engine since it is already turboed stock and the engine was first produced in the late 1980's... of course being upgraded and improved over the years with different generations... there are turboes made for the 3sgte for quick spool not as much power for twisties, slow spool high hp for drag and pretty much turboes for anything inbetween there... so bascially u have a wide variaty of choices for the mr2... only so many people could afford the nsx, and of the low percentage of people that could afford the nsx, there was an even lower percentage of people who acctually modded the engine etc... most nsx's i see arround town are pretty much stock inside and out... thus having little market for the nsx tuning community.... my dad's friend also had one completely stock 1999 model.. the mr2 on the other hand... it is hard to find a used mr2 that hasnt been modded... though expensive for its time, it was much more affordable than the nsx.... car companies make products where they best think they can make money... which is the reason for the huge aftermarket for the civic... its not the best sports car, but its affordable and there is a huge tuner following... this goes for the mr2 as well... there is a larger number of people wanting to tune mr2's then there are that want to tune the nsx...
dont get me wrong, the nsx has a great engine but... it would be much easier and most likely cheeper to find parts for the 3sgte... if u wanted to go the f/i route, then the nsx needs more extensive modding then the mr2 does and i doubt there are as many turboes produced for the nsx then there are for the mr2... etc. etc. etc. do u understand my statement now? |

yes stock for stock it would hardly take a prelude v-tec. but with as little as boost controller, intake, exhuast and fuel cut defensor. it will run with a 90-92 NSX. since those are still 14 second cars. and a mr2 with that little done to it is a high 13 second car.
